The complexity has always been there. Because the wider, public, eyes are now reading the massive amounts of opinion, interpretation of facts as well as the different historical, political, social and economic factors does not change the complexity.
What we are witnessing is responsive political posturing rather than the cultured states craft delivering on ways forward where people's rights and Rights are being delivered by those espousing leadership.
As a person carrying a UK passport, the lessons of history have not been imbued but regularly interpreted by those controlling media and processes. British expediency may have 'solved' one expressed problem but did not address, or in fact regularly exacerbated, the felt problems underpinning the capability to create situations where the shared values outweigh the posturing and positioning of key influencers seeking their own (selfish) ends.
Now is the time for real reflection to cause systemic change in approaches no longer fit for purpose. The immediate conflagration heightens the focus but will not address the underlying issues IF political posturing is allowed to undermine statecraft.
