Thanks for this - a great read to provoke some further thinking.
Currently working on what are known as FCAS, fragile and conflict affected states, where the international community is struggling to embrace probabilistic thinking beyond the lowest common denominator and perpetuates humanitarian response in a deterministic manner. If this calamity happens, then we respond through these tools and approaches.
This tends to the projectories and the systematic change to keep the power balances as they are. Thus, AI and ML, machine learning, are used to reinforce deterministic thinking and approaches rather than offer up opportunity to think, dialogue and thence act in ways where systemic change may well be the way forward.
Big issues are being influenced by the capabilities coming with AI and ML - climate change being the big one well beyond machine working on here and now markets.
It requires the open dialogue and deliberations of different minds to then look at what can, must be, done now to ensure projectories are used in the right way to drive forward possibilities where scale and focus are required to challenge misuse of these tools to effect only systematic change.
