Our daughter was heard to say her dad was not white and her mum was not black. Dad was a sort of pink that turns red when he works out and Mum is a deep coffee colour (and dealing with eczema). She then described herself as being almond and has Mum's eczema.

The skin colour for us in East Africa is part of the crayon box noted in a comment below. We are dealing with racism mixed with ethnicity and the socio-economic issues that come with poverty and inequality reinforcing too many divisions.

Racism is the bleak contrasts inside people's heads and hearts and shown in the appalling words and actions built on predetermined prejudices reinforced by equally appalling use of hate in social media.
