Good piece - yes, some things have changed; but not so much the manner of marketing, not always wholly greenwashing, rejuvenating / rehabilitating, ecosystems.
We have returned and revitalised Small is Beautiful and local economic development in any number of places and ways. Living and working in East Africa, the ASAL regions witness a frustration among people who must seek to eke a livelihood from ecosystems where extractive practices have endured. Community engaged rehab is ongoing but people ask why they pay the price for others comfort? Bloody good question noting the CSR is still not shared values.
In UK, where my brothers returned to trees some 3 hectares of land, we were told strict guidelines for mixed woodland with a triple layer canopy to develop over the years (it is now a decade old and the woodland is appearing).
